தஞ்சாவூர் மேரிஸ் கார்னர் பாலத்தின் கீழ் சாலையில் நின்றும் அருகிலுள்ள ரயில்வே தண்டவாளத்தில் மது அருந்தி வருகின்றனர். அதனை தடுக்க உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என அப்பகுதி மக்கள் கோரிக்கை விடுத்து வருகின்றனர்.
மேரிஸ் கார்னர் பாலத்தின் கீழே பொது மக்களுக்கு இடையுராக இந்த வழியில் உள்ள டாஸ்மாக்கில் மதுவை வாங்கிக் கொண்டு வந்து பொது வழியை மது அருந்தும் பார் போல பயன்படுத்துவதால் பொதுமக்கள் அச்சத்துடன் செல்ல வேண்டிய நிலைமை உள்ளது . இந்த பகுதியில் பொதுமக்கள் மற்றும் பள்ளி மாணவிகள் மாலை நேரங்களில் செல்லும்போது மது போதையில் சிலர் கேலி கிண்டல் செய்வதாக அவர்களுடைய பெற்றோர்கள் மற்றும் பொதுமக்கள் புகார் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர்.
அது மட்டுமல்லாது தண்டவாளத்தின் அருகே உட்க்காந்து மது அருந்துவதால் போதையில் ரயிலில் அடிபட்டு உயிரிழப்பு ஏற்படும் அபாயமும் உள்ளது. திறந்தவெளியில் எல்லோருக்கும் தெரியும் வகையில் பல மாதங்களாக இவ்வாறு மது அருந்துவது காவல்துறைக்கும் சம்பந்தப்பட்டவர்களுக்கும் தெரியாமலா இருக்கும் பெரிய அசம்பாவிதங்கள் நடைபெறுவதற்கு முன்பாக காவல்துறையினர் நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என சமூக ஆர்வலர்களும் பொதுமக்களும் வேண்டுகோள் வைக்கின்றார்கள்.
